The importance of study

The importance that our daily walk with God plays in our ability to respond to the Holy Spirits teaching is often over-looked. Too many young Christians will neglect God Monday through Saturday, then wonder why His word failed to move them on Sunday. Bottom line, it's a matter of relationships. Ask yourself what is the main difference between great men and women of God, and everyone else; and the answer should be their walk. The difference is not found in their education or degrees. Nor is it found in their jobs or financial status. The difference is not even found in the size of their church or following. Rather, the difference is found in their desire to be in His presence every chance they get. The Psalmist wrote, "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers (Psalm 1:1-3)." His relationship is day and night, not just Sunday morning. His walk with God is monogamous, not shared with the wicked or the sinners; Monday through Sunday, morning through night, the blessed man and woman endeavors to be in the presence of their God. Paul confirms this most rudimental element in our ability to understand the things of God when he wrote, "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned (1st Corinthians 2:14)." Do you seek knowledge and wisdom? Do you desire to understand the truths of His word? Do you want insight from the personal God? Then walk with Him; Monday through Sunday, morning through night; every chance you get.
