What Is The Joshua Generation?
If you read through the later chapters of Deuteronomy and the Book of Joshua, you will see that Joshua's generation was the generation of God's chosen people to take possession of the Promised Land; the ones to take possession of the blessings that God had promised to their forefathers. Unlike the generation prior who grumbled against God, Joshua's generation transformed the world around them with God. Their life was a daily demonstration of God's power, God's Holiness, God's faithfulness, and God's love for His chosen people. They not only demolished strongholds, but shook the very foundation of their society.
Unfortunately, not much has changed from the time of Moses. Too many so called Christians now stand and grumble against the very God that delivered them from their land of slavery; living a life characterized by doubt and unfruitfulness. Therefore, today, the Joshua generation is represented by those young men and women of God who are next to take possession of God's blessings by conquering a land of unbelievers and watered down Christians, and rebuilding in their place a holy nation for God. The Joshua generation stands strong and fearless in a land of formidable giants while others step back and echo, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are (Numbers 13:31b)." Instead, we proclaim and hold onto the very promise spoken to Joshua, "The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (Deuteronomy 31:8)."   [mp]
