"To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy (Jude 24)."

Imperfectly Perfect

Jude 24

I believe that mirrors would make good politicians. They reflect everything the audience wants to see, themselves. The down side to mirrors is that they will, at times, bring to light truths about ourselves we would rather remain hidden, or at least denied. Thus, it is sometimes said, "Take a good look in the mirror, and see if you like who's looking back." I can say with almost certainty that everyone has disliked the man, or woman, on the other side of the looking glass at one time or another; everyone has felt the shame of something done or said. I know I have. Unfortunately, that’s the price of being imperfect people, and scripture has no shortage of passages reminding us of that. However, regardless of such haunting and discontented reflections, we can rest assured that through Christ we are perfect in the eyes of God. Jude said, "To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy- (Jude 24)." What splendid grace there is bestowed upon sinful man that in Christ there are no mirrors. There is nothing to remind us of our failures and inadequacies. Rather, in Christ, our shortcomings are nothing more than ripples on the surface of the waters, and we stand before our creator imperfectly perfect, a faultless reflection of God's love towards all.  [mp]
