"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him (1st Corinthians 1:27-29)." |
All My Heroes A Poem Based On1st Corinthians 1:27-29 2nd Corinthians 12:9 Not strong by standards, they lack in worldly strength; yet winners, though they often lose. My heroes' courage is far from praised, for they often tremble in their shoes. Not ones to finish, or take a prize, my heroes seldom win. And when a storm floods through their life, my heroes… sink, they can not swim. O, not made of silver, bronze, or gold, my heroes are not refined. And in a race for things achieved, well, my heroes fall behind. They run from battles and never charge, and often cry in fright. And in times when others face the odds my heroes turn... and just take flight. My heroes' bodies are weak in form, and though not few, they try to hide. Still, I chose my heroes for something more than strength, or will, or pride. No, not strong by standards, they lack in worldly strength; yet winners, though they often lose. You see, in my heroes is the man named Christ, made perfect through the weakness in you. So to all my heroes who are weak, burdened hearted, and yet faithfully true... thanks for your testimony, and for all that you do.
